The cult US burger chain Smashburger will open its first British outlet in Milton Keynes.

The Colorado-based chain will be located at the Kingston shopping centre – joining a number of successful food chains including Nandos, Prezzo and Giraffe.

Smashburger announced its UK aspirations last year, and has now completed a deal to open a 1,700 sq ft unit in the 241,154 sq ft centre in Kingston Retail and Leisure area. There are also plans to build an extra mezzanine level.

Milton Keynes will be the very first of around 35 planned openings across the UK.

Since its launch in 2007, the company has opened more than 300 outlets in 32 states and five countries. Smashburger was founded by Tom Ryan, Rick Schadgen and Consumer Capital Partners, and will be operated in the UK by MSG group, which operates 120 Domino’s Pizza restaurants in the UK, as well as fellow US burger franchise Five Guys and Shake Shack.
