A late, and great, free-kick from Alan Sheehan earned Luton Town a point away at Hartlepool to move up to second place in League Two.

Nathan Thomas had given Pools the lead shortly before half-time when he followed up after a good save from Hatters stopper Christian Walton.

The hosts then saw Nicky Featherstone shown a straight red card for a foul on Olly Lee which began a period of sustained pressure from Nathan Jones’ men.

But it took a set-piece for them to finally find the net when Sheehan brilliant curled a free-kick over the wall and into the near post rescuing a point from the trip north.

The result means the Hatters have taken 17 points from 10 games and are now only below early frontrunners Plymouth Argyle in the League Two table.
