George Baldock hoping MK Dons get a lucky break in following games
MK Dons full-back George Baldock has said the team is looking for stronger luck in future games.
The player spoke after the Dons were on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat by Bury, where the team had enough chances to win the game, but fell to two James Vaughan goals and one late Zeli Ismail strike. Baldock said that the team needed they key luck, but were suffering through individual mistakes.
He said, “We need it to go in off someone’s backside or ricochet in or an own goal at home. Our away form’s decent but we aren’t getting the luck at home. Individual mistakes are costing us a little bit at the minute, but as a whole, I think we dominated and their players saying we were the better side. But the key stat is 3-1 to Bury.
“Our home form needs to turn and we’re going to work hard to put things right for the fans.”
Baldock also described all three Bury goals as preventable.
He said, “All 3 goals were preventable. We’re not getting undone by great play at the moment. The gaffer and Richie work tirelessly to negate the opposition strengths and we don’t leave any stone unturned. Its so thorough what we do and it would be concerning if we were still being undone, but individual mistakes are collectively not helping.
“We win and lose together. We have strong individuals on and off the pitch, and I’m sure it’ll turn. But we need to kick on and make this place a fortress again.”
The game continued the wait for a home win, and Baldock described the team’s goal as making the ground a fortress as was the case 2 seasons ago.
He said, “I wouldn’t say its playing on our minds, but we know how important it is to win here. In the year we went up, this place was a fortress. Its more just putting back-to-back wins together. It was always the plan to win again and make it 2 out of 2 as that hasn’t happened in so long.
“That’s what it takes to be promoted, and this is Bury’s 6th win in 6, and that’s why their 2nd. When we went up, we won 9 out of 10 at the back end to get promoted. It is so important to get these back to back wins together, but we’re also aware home form needs to be better.”
