Luton Town’s winless run was extended to five games after they lost away at Colchester United.

The Essex club’s victory was sealed by 2 goals from Chris Porter in the opening 31 minutes. The striker’s first saw him head in Brennan Dickenson’s cross after just four minutes, and the second was struck just under 30 minutes later when Porter prodded in Richard Brindley’s cross.

The visitors improved after half-time but could only grab an injury time goal back, which came through Isaac Vassell. The Luton striker turned the ball over the line from close range in the third minute of added time.

Luton had chances between half-time and their injury time goal, but were ultimately unable to take anything from the game.

The result means Luton extended their winless run to five games, with promotion rivals Colchester now 2 points off the play-offs. With Blackpool beating Hartlepool at Bloomfield Road, it means the Hatters drop a place to 6th on goal difference.

The result also increases the importance for Luton to get a result next weekend, as they welcome Blackpool to Kenilworth Road.
