Luton Town have been handed a home tie against Ipswich Town in the first round of the 2017/18 Carabao Cup.

The Hatters will host Mick McCarthy’s men at Kenilworth Road in the week commencing Monday 7th August.

The meeting will be the first between the two clubs since the Championship clash in March 2007 when the visitors came out on top.

Nathan Jones has history of beating higher league opposition in this competition after seeing off Aston Villa last season, before being knocked out by Leeds United.

The trophy has been renamed from the EFL Cup after a sponsorship deal with the Carabao drinks brand, which is based in Thailand where Friday’s first round draw took place.
