MK Dons to play Brighton, Oxford & Stevenage in EFL Trophy
MK Dons have been drawn to face Oxford United, Stevenage and the Brighton U23 side in their Checkatrade Trophy group.
The conclusion of the draw took place earlier this week, and revealed that the academy side selected in the Dons’ group are the Premier League newboys. In the new version of the tournament’s controversial format, the Seagulls side will play all of their group stage games away from home.
The Dons had previously been drawn against League One rivals Oxford and League Two outfit Stevenage in the first stage of the draw last week.
The Dons’ opening match in the competition will see them host the Brighton academy side at stadium:mk in the week beginning August 28th. They will then host Stevenage in the week beginning October 2nd, before travelling to the Kassam Stadium in the week commencing November 6th.
Last year, the Dons reached the First Knockout Round. They finished second in a group with the Norwich U23 side, Peterborough United and Barnet, before being beaten by Yeovil.
