MK Dons have sent young left back Ben Tilney to National League North side Brackley Town on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent time at St James Park during the 2015/16 campaign and returns for a second spell as he looks to gain first team experience.

Tilney was hoping to provide competition to skipper Dean Lewington for the left back slot this season, but it seems Dons boss Robbie Neilson does not believe the youngster is ready.

He told the club’s official website: “Ben and I had an honest discussion about where he sees his professional future and we agreed that this was the right move for both parties at this time.

“Ben wants a comfortable environment so he can enjoy his football – we wish him all the best. We will monitor him throughout his loan spell and re-assess the situation as a whole towards the end of the season.”
