Milton Keynes Dons will face Swansea City in the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The club found their fate in the Second Round draw tie, which was made earlier today. (10/08) The Dons had previously announced as an unseeded team in the round’s pre-draw, and drawn in the southern section of the draw.

The Dons booked their place in the second round after a 1-0 win over Forest Green Rovers in the first round earlier this week. Gboly Ariyibi scored the only goal of the game against the side newly promoted from non-league into the Football League for this season, with the strike being the winger’s first goal since his summer arrival from Nottingham Forest.

Premier League side Swansea are managed by Paul Clement, and finished 15th in last season’s competition. The Welsh side won four of their last five games to stay up in the top flight.

Last season, the Dons made it to round 2 of this competition, with a 3-2 win at Newport County followed up by a penalty shootout defeat by Championship side Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

The Dons last met Swansea in the regional final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2008, with an MK side then managed by Paul Ince beating Swansea on penalties on their way to winning the tournament, with the two sides having registered 1-0 away wins in the 2 legged event. The other meetings came in League One in the 2005-06 season, with Swansea winning both meetings 3-1.

The match will be played in the week beginning August 21st.
