MP launches petition against changes to MK bus routes
Milton Keynes North MP Mark Lancaster has launched a petition against proposals to reduce services between Newport Pagnell and Central Milton Keynes.
The MP launched the petition in response to plans by MK bus provider Arriva to reduce services on the Service 1 route that currently connects Newport Pagnell with Bletchley via Central Milton Keynes. The proposals would see fewer buses run on the route between the city centre and Newport Pagnell during working hours, and are due to be enacted from October 29th.
In a statement, Lancaster said, “I have had a large number of residents contact me with their concerns. It is disappointing that the proposals seem to have been done without a wide consultation of users and residents. Clearly the changes are significant and will impact on the commuters who rely on the Arriva services to go about their daily lives.
“My office has requested a meeting as soon as possible to explore the possibility of restoring the services completely or in part before the changes come into effect.”
