Nothing to split Luton or Notts County after top 2 clash
There was nothing to split League Two high-fliers Luton Town or Notts County as League Two’s top 2 drew 1-1.
The result is enough to keep Luton top on goal difference from the visitors, and the two sides extend their lead on third placed Accrington Stanley to 5 points, although the North West side’s game was postponed.
Notts County had the better of the early chances, but Luton took the lead just before the half hour mark as Johnny Mullins headed the ball in at a home corner. The strike was Mullins’ first goal of the season.
The visitors levelled just after the hour mark, as Shola Ameobi reached a free-kick ahead of Marek Stech and headed the ball into the back of the net.
Luton’s best chance to win it fell to Mullins, who saw a late shot saved. It ultimately meant that in one of the day’s big clashes in League Two, there was no splitting the two promotion contenders.
