Northampton Town have begun the transfer window with one arrival and two departures, with winger Hildeberto Pereira arriving on loan while Lewis McGugan and Ryan McGivern have been released.
Pereira joins the League One side on loan for the rest of the season from Legia Warsaw. The 21-year-old Portuguese winger began his career with Benfica and spent time on loan with Nottingham Forest last season.
Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told the official Northampton Town website, “I have come up against Hildeberto a number of times and have been very impressed. I think he will be a big asset to us.
“He is full of pace and energy, he can take players on and he will offer us natural width, creativity and a spark. He is lively, unpredictable and he can have the fans on the edge of their seats and I am looking forward to working with him.”
Meanwhile, Northampton have also confirmed the releases of McGugan and McGivern upon the expiry of short term contracts.
Midfielder McGugan leaves after making 14 appearances in all competitions, during which he scored in a Checkatrade Trophy match against Southampton. Defender McGivern leaves after making just 3 appearances for the side.
