Northampton Town have confirmed the loan signing of winger Gboly Ariyibi from Nottingham Forest.

Ariyibi’s arrival at Sixfields comes less than a week after his loan at MK Dons was terminated. The winger is eligible to make his debut for Northampton against MK Dons in their League One meeting tomorrow. (20/01)

The American-born winger began his career at Southampton, and after a spell with Leeds United, he joined Chesterfield in 2014. After impressing for the Spireites, he moved to Nottingham Forest in 2017.

Ariyibi made 28 appearances in all competitions for MK Dons in a loan spell, but he was returned to Forest in the week after the club signed Marcus Tavernier from Middlesbrough.

Manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink told the official Northampton Town website that he was delighted to make the signing.

He said, “Gboly is an addition we are exicted to make. He is a player who has impressed me whenever I have seen him. He is direct, and offers some really explosive pace and width and he is very good in attacking one against one situations.

“He is the sort of player who can get the supporters out of their seats and he gives us another dimension to our attacking play.”

Ariyibi is the 7th arrival at Northampton Town in the January transfer window.
