Luton maintain lead after victory over Crawley
Luton Town maintained their six point lead at League Two’s summit after a 4-1 win over Crawley Town at Kenilworth Road.
Olly Lee put the Hatters ahead just before the half hour mark. He was then joined on the scoresheet by James Collins, who scored twice against the club he represented last season.
Luke Berry also chipped in with one extra strike, with Karlan Ahearne-Grant registering a late consolation.
The home side made a lively start, and had already hit the post and forced two saves out of visiting keeper Glenn Morris before Lee received Collins’ pass on a quick break and beat Morris.
Luton still had further chances for a first half second, and eventually picked on up in the final moments of the half. It cam through Collins, with the ex-Crawley striker seeing a deflected header find its way over the line.
Crawley arrived in Bedfordshire on a run of 4 wins in 7 and came close to coming back into the contest after half-time with an effort cleared off the line. But they fell 3-0 down after 56 minutes, with a through-ball releasing Berry to score.
Luton’s scoring was rounded off through Collins, who got his second from the penalty spot after he had been fouled.
Ahearne-Grant did get Crawley onto the scoresheet late on with a low shot beyond the keeper, but the home side had the results. They maintain a six point lead on 2nd place Accrington Stanley, who beat Crewe, and a 10 point lead on 4th placed Notts County.
