MK Dons pushed closer to League 2 after Bradford defeat
MK Dons’ hopes of staying in League One took further damage after a 2-0 loss in their clash at Bradford City.
The Dons’ defeat leaves them six points adrift with 2 games to go. However, with a goal difference between 8 and 17 points worse than the 3 teams either side of the relegation zone, the Dons need a major shift in results to avoid a second relegation in three seasons.
In their first game since Sunday’s dismissal of manager Dan Micciche, a Dons side under the caretaker charge of Keith Millen had started positively, with Chuks Aneke striking the bar.
But the home side would take the lead, with Bradford midfielder Timothee Dieng turning the ball over the line at a corner.
Marcus Tavernier saw a strike go wide, while Bradford’s Kai Bruenker had a shot tipped over, as the first half ended with the Dons trailed at the break.
Both sides had opportunity after the break, but it was the home side’s Nathaniel Knight-Percival who got the games’ second goal after Wieger Sietsma failed to hold on to a free-kick.
The result means the Dons have now lost 5 straight games. With Rochdale drawing against Plymouth and Oldham beaten 3-0 by Southend, it means the Dons have still not been relegated, but they remain in a precarious position ahead of Saturday’s match with Scunthorpe United.
