Luton Town lost their unbeaten run and top spot in League Two after a 3-0 home defeat against Coventry City.

The Hatters had entered their contest with the Sky Blues unbeaten in nine, but fell behind early on to Marc McNulty as the forward headed home at a corner.

Luton’s best chances to level came after the break. Danny Hylton was denied by Lee Burge, Harry Cornick had a shot deflected wide, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu saw an effort go wide after a solo move, and then Burge made a fine double stop to keep out Andrew Shinnie and Hylton.

But the visitors rode out the pressure and then struck their second as the game rolled into added time, following a move that saw Luton have a player sent off. Glen Rea was dismissed for a foul on McNulty on the edge of the box, and substitute Jordan Shipley duly dispatched it into the top corner.

There was still time for Coventry to add a third as a counter released Duckens Nazon, who struck a deflected effort in to cap off a miserable day for the hosts. With Notts County and Accrington Stanley both winning, Luton drop to 3rd in the table.
