Northampton Town have extended their unbeaten run in League One after a 1-1 draw with play-off chasers Blackburn.

The second drawn encounter between the two sides in just a month saw Northampton strike first, as John-Joe O’Toole headed in after 11 minutes. The midfielder headed in Joe Bunney’s cross to put the Cobblers ahead at Ewood Park, which was his 4th goal in as many games.

Blackburn’s best chances for a first half leveller saw Craig Conway have one shot blocked and another blaze just over the post.

Regan Poole missed Northampton’s best chance for a second, but the Cobblers ultimately couldn’t preserve their clean sheet. Danny Graham struck the home side’s equaliser, with the striker heading in Dominic Samuel’s cross.

But Northampton held out to take themselves a share of the points from their trip to Lancashire. The result means Northampton are now 3 points clear of the relegation zone, although victory for AFC Wimbledon at Bradford City means they dropped a place overall and sit 20th in the table.
