MK Dons continued their winless run after they were beaten 1-0 by fellow strugglers Oldham Athletic.
The Dons have not won in League One in 2018, and their wait for a maiden success of the year was extended by Anthony Gerrard’s first half goal. The defender was on hand to turn in a corner in the final moments of the first half.
The visitors had a smattering of early chances, with Chuks Aneke seeing a shot denied by the home keeper Jeremy Placide before leaving injured, while Robbie Muirhead and Scott Wootton saw some attempts go wide. Ike Ugbo also saw drive go wide after hitting Aneke’s replacement Kieran Agard.
Oldham began to come into the game more, with Craig Davies firing wide after Lee Nicholls had denied an initial shot, while the hosts also had a goal disallowed for offside.
The Latics ultimately led through a set piece in the final moments of the half, with Gerrard heading in a corner to give Richie Wellens’ side the lead.
Oldham had a couple of chances after the break, but a tight game soon petered out and the home side took the victory that in turn lifts them out of the bottom 3. By contrast, MK Dons are now 6 points from safety ahead of Saturday’s match with Charlton and a further relegation 6 pointer with Rochdale.
