Luton Town have confirmed the loan signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Jorge Grant.
Grant is Luton’s fourth signing ahead of the new season, following the signings of Sonny Bradley, Matty Pearson and Andrew Shinnie.
Grant has signed a season-long loan deal with the Hatters. He had previously played for Notts County on two separate loan deals over 18 months. With 19 goals last season, Grant was Notts County’s highest scorer in a team that made it to the play-offs before being defeated in the semis by Coventry.
Speaking to the official Luton Town website, the club’s manager Nathan Jones said, “Jorge is a player that we’ve tried to get here for over a year.
“We tried to sign him last summer, we enquired about him in January and we’ve tried to get him permanently now, but that’s not been possible so we’ve done the next best thing and taken him on a season-long loan.”
In further transfer developments, young defender Akin Famewo has signed a new contract extension at Kenilworth Road to 2020. The club have also confirmed Famewo will spend the season on loan with League Two side Grimsby Town.
Frankie Musonda will also leave the club on loan, with the 20-year-old joining National League side Aldershot Town on a season-long loan.
The signing was confirmed ahead of Luton’s first pre-season friendly, which saw them win away at Hitchin Town on Friday night.
James Collins, Elliot Lee, Harry Cornick, Jake Jervis and a late double from Luke Gambin were the goalscorers, as Luton won 6-2 in Hertfordshire as they begin their pre-season programme.
