Northampton Town have confirmed the signing of full-back Hakeem Odoffin, who has joined after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Odoffin, 20, has signed a two year contract with the Cobblers. The player was a youth player at Spurs, Reading and Barnet, before joining Wolves in 2016. He also played on-loan for Eastleigh during the 2016-17 season.
The club’s manager Dean Austin was delighted to confirm his signing. He said, “Hakeem is a player I know a lot about and he will be a good addition to the squad.
“He is a good size and he has pace. He loves to get forward from full back and he will compete well with Shay Facey for the right back position. The two of them will drive each other forward and competition for places is crucial.
“He is a young player with a lot of ability and he is hungry to do well. As I have said many times, character, determination and attitude are very important to me, they are the attributes I am looking for and Hakeem fits that template.”
As part of the news, Austin has confirmed that full-back Aaron Phillips will no longer be offered a new contract. The former Coventry full-back’s deal had expired at the end of the previous season, although he will stay in training with the club to build up his fitness before leaving.
