MK Dons defender George Williams voiced his delight as the team saw off Cheltenham Town, and looked for the team to continue to build on it.

The defender spoke after the Dons beat Cheltenham 3-0 at stadium mk, with the side picking up back to back victories in the process after seeing off the Robins.

Williams said the team’s recent performances had shown signs of promise, and in turn that they’d improved. He also said the team showed potential for further good form.

He said, “Its been really good and can’t ask for much more. We want to play well first and foremost, and I think we did that. Its three goals and clean sheet, and can’t do better than that.

“The performances have been coming. We had a blip of draws in recent weeks, but it was important we moved on and we’ve looked really good in recent weeks. I think there’ll be more in the coming weeks, and the final piece of the puzzle was getting those goals. I’m sure the fans will be happy.”

Speaking on the recent draws, the Dons’ player said they could the team did get frustrated, but were able to dig in and in turn, get the wins on the board.

He said, “We can think on the what ifs, and what if we’d turned those draws into wins. But we’ve didn’t lose them and have now got back to back wins, so its now time to keep this run going.

“I think its frustrating because all those games could’ve been wins, so it was frustrating, but we’re professionals. You’ve just go to dig in and work hard, and the gaffer’s always said we’ve got to keep them going. We’ve turned it into the wins, which is good.”

Williams was involved in the build-up of the first two goals, notching assists for Chuks Aneke’s opener and Rhys Healey’s second strike.

On the first goal, Williams said, “To be fair, I think my marker ran off and I was alone, so I was in the position, and Chuks was able to put it away.

As for the second, Healey said, “It was good and I was really happy with it. We put a lot of work into getting balls wide before putting it in and whipping it across. I was happy with it and Rhys tucked it away nicely.”
