Luton pick up points with victory away at AFC Wimbledon
Luton Town picked up points as they beat AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow to collect their third straight win.
Second half goals from Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Elliot Lee decided the contest in South West London, with Luton also missing a second half penalty. After victories over Walsall and Accrington Stanley, the result means Luton are able to climb up into 5th place in the League One table.
The visitors had seen early opportunities when Danny Hylton struck a post and the striker saw another effort blocked on the line by Rod McDonald.
A scrappy game saw Luton have opportunities, but they had to wait until the second half to take one. It came through Mpanzu, who struck his first goal of the season when he struck a cross beyond home goalkeeper Joe McDonnell.
Luton had a quickfire chance to make it 2-0 when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Hylton. But the striker couldn’t make it count as his chipped penalty was denied.
Glen Rea, Hylton and James Collins all came close with chances for a second goal, before Lee found it. The attacker’s 20-yard drive flew into the back of the net, and was able to ease the nerves as the visitors were able to pick up the three points.
