Bad weather sees MK Dons’ game at Newport postponed
MK Dons’ League 2 match away against Newport County in South Wales has been postponed due to bad weather.
The playing surface at Newport’s Rodney Parade stadium had passed an initial inspection around 1:20pm, with the inspection taking place after heavy rain was recorded in the local area on both Friday night and Saturday morning.
But after the initial decision for the game to go ahead, the weather continued to be poor, with yet more rain falling as the two teams emerged for their ultimately shortened pre-game warm-ups.
A second decision on whether the game could go ahead was duly made by the match referee, and with it came the ultimate call that the match was to be postponed less than 30 minutes before the initially scheduled kick-off.
The game will now be rescheduled and take place at a later date. Newport County and MK Dons will confirm the details of the rescheduled fixture in due course.
