Luton Town have confirmed the loan signing of Derby County midfielder George Thorne until the end of the season.
Thorne, 26, is the Hatters’ first arrival at the club of the January window. The midfielder, who grew up in nearby Bedford, has previously played in the Premier League for West Brom and was a regular on loan for a Derby side that reached the Championship play-offs in 2013/14.
Thorne was delighted at making the move to Kenilworth Road.
He told the official Luton Town website, “Nathan ran through what he knew about me, the direction the club is heading in, the way he plays, the philosophy and environment of the football club, and all of it was very positive.
“Personally I thought it was somewhere I could thrive at and somewhere I wanted to join. I’ve been playing as much as I can at Derby. I’ve been training every day and I’m in the best shape I could be in.”
Thorne joined Derby on a permanent basis in 2014 after a successful loan spell with the Rams, but has had his appearances limited by several major injuries and has not played a first team game since March.
