Northampton sign George Cox on loan from Brighton
Northampton Town have confirmed they have signed left-sided player George Cox on loan from Brighton.
The 20-year-old has joined after making a recovery from heart surgery in pre-season, and made appearances for the Premier League side’s academy team in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Cox is the first arrival of the transfer window for the League 2 outfit, after a window that has so far also seen Kevin van Veen and Yaser Kasim leave.
The Northampton manager Keith Curle voiced his delight at confirming the signing.
He told the club’s official website, “I have tried to sign George before but previously he wasn’t allowed out as he was close to the Brighton first team.
“The opportunity has arisen now and he is an exciting player. He has a lot of talent and ability and he needs to be out playing senior football.
“He can play anywhere down the left hand side, he will give us competition, balance and he is an attack minded player who will get us up the pitch. He does a lot of good work in the final third and he is a threat.”
