Luton out of FA Cup as Wednesday win and set up Chelsea tie
Luton Town were knocked out of the FA Cup as they were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday, who will travel to Chelsea in Round 4.
One goal proved enough to decide the tie, as Atdhe Nuhiu scored within a minute of the re-start after the second half to win the tie for the Owls.
Luton had their opportunities in both halves of the match to take the rewards, but couldn’t find a way through.
The first half saw both sides have efforts, with Luton’s Jack Stacey and James Collins forcing saves out of Cameron Dawson, while Wednesday saw Barry Banna’s shot deflected off Steven Fletcher onto the woodwork.
Nuhiu scored the game’s opening goal in the opening minute of the second half, as he received Fletcher’s knockdown and bundled the ball beyond James Shea.
Luton’s best opportunities saw Luke Berry have two efforts denied by Dawson, while Collins struck a post and Sonny Bradley had an effort cleared off the line.
But there was to be no reprieve for the Hatters, who are out of the tournament at the 3rd Round stage.
