Tranmere Rovers and Sunderland are the last 2 opponents confirmed for MK Dons in League 1 next year after 2 dramatic play-off finals.

Tranmere confirmed they would follow Lincoln, Bury and the Dons by jumping up a tier after a goal in the last minute of extra-time saw them beat Newport County at Wembley.

Connor Jennings was the hero for the side from Merseyside, who scored a 119th minute winner to see off the 10 men South Welsh team.

Meanwhile, Charlton came from behind to strike a 94th minute winner to beat Sunderland in the League One play-off final to follow Luton and Barnsley into the Championship, and ensure Sunderland would remain in the third tier, along with Doncaster and Portsmouth.

The South Londoners fell behind to a farcical own goal by defender Naby Sarr. Ben Purrington equalised for Charlton, but the game looked set to go for extra-time until defender Patrick Bauer bundled in a 94th minute winner.

Bauer’s goal confirms Charlton’s return to League One after being relegated to the Championship in 2016, while Sunderland will remain in the third tier of English football for a second season in a row.

The result confirms the 24 teams in League One for next season.
