Northampton Town have confirmed their busy start to the summer transfer window with the signing of midfield duo Nicky Adams and Alan McCormack.

Adams, 32, has signed a 2 year deal with the Cobblers after leaving Bury, whom he helped gain promotion into League One in the season that has just finished.

The move is a return to Northampton for the winger, who made 45 appearances in all competitions for Chris Wilder’s League 2 title winning side in the 2015-16 season.

Adams was in a third spell with the Shakers, having made his professional debut for the club in 2005, before rejoining the club in 2014 after half a season with Rotherham United, and then returning a third time to Gigg Lane 12 months ago after leaving Carlisle.

Meanwhile, 35-year-old defensive midfielder McCormack has signed a one year deal with Keith Curle’s side after leaving League One champions Luton Town.

The midfielder leaves after making 39 appearances in all competitions over 2 seasons that saw the Hatters earn back-to-back promotions from League 2 to the Championship.

Before moving to Luton, McCormack had previously played for Preston, Southend, Charlton and Brentford, along with further loan spells at Leyton Orient and Motherwell.
