Luton to host Middlesbrough in Championship opener
League One champions Luton Town will host Middlesbrough in their first match back in the Championship.
Graeme Jones’ first game in charge will be broadcast live on Sky TV, and will take place on Friday 2nd August as the curtain-raiser for the 2019-20 EFL season. The match will be Luton’s first in the second tier since 2007.
Middlesbrough finished 7th in last season’s Championship, and will be under new management after former defender Jonathan Woodgate replaced the departing Tony Pulis.
Luton’s opening month will then see them travel to a Cardiff City side relegated from last season’s Premier League in South Wales on August 10th, before hosting West Bromwich Albion.
The opening month also features games against Sheffield Wednesday, fellow promoted side Barnsley and a home game against Huddersfield Town.
Boxing Day will see Luton host Fulham at Kenilworth Road, with their last match before Christmas also hosting a match as they face Swansea on December 21st. The last game of 2019 will be away at Bristol City on December 29th, with New Year’s Day 2020 seeing a trip to Millwall.
The final game of the season for Luton will be at home to Blackburn on May 2nd, with the last away game being a trip to Hull the week before.
