Luton Town’s opening round match in the Carabao Cup will see the Hatters host Ipswich Town.

The meeting of the Hatters and the Tractor Boys at Kenilworth Road was produced by a live draw broadcast on the Carabao Facebook and Twitter pages.

The game will take place in the week beginning August 12th, subject to TV scheduling and any further considerations.

Luton and Ipswich switched places in the EFL pyramid last season, with Ipswich finishing bottom of the Championship while Luton enjoyed a season that culminated in promotion from the 3rd tier to the 2nd.

The Tractor Boys will continue to be managed next season by Paul Lambert, with demotion ending a 17 year stint as a second tier club.

This is the second time in three seasons that the two sides have met in the opening round of this tournament, with the two sides meeting in 2017. Ipswich recorded a 2-0 win at Kenilworth Road when the two sides met on that occasion.

The last league clashes between the two sides happened in the 2006/07 campaign, with Ipswich winning both meetings.
