Northampton Town will host Walsall in the opening match of the new season on August 3rd.
The fixture release day for the 72 EFL clubs confirmed that Keith Curle’s Cobblers will begin the new campaign against the Saddlers, who were relegated to League 2 at the end of last season.
The Cobblers’ opening fixtures will then see them play Port Vale in their first away match one week later on August 10th, before a first round Carabao Cup tie and a home meeting with Macclesfield Town.
Northampton will then conclude August with back-to-back away games against Swindon Town & Colchester United, and a home meeting with Plymouth Argyle.
Keith Curle’s side face back-to-back away games over Christmas, with the team facing Mansfield on December 21st and Crawley on Boxing Day. They are then followed by back-to-back home matches against Cheltenham on December 29th and Stevenage on New Year’s Day.
Those two games are then followed by back-to-back away games against the 2 clubs promoted from the National League.
Northampton face Leyton Orient in East London on January 4th, pending either side making the FA Cup Third Round, before travelling to Salford City on January 11th. Both clashes with the two sides in Northampton take place in October.
The Cobblers’ season wraps up on April 25th, with the side facing an away fixture at Newport County. Northampton’s last home game is against Bradford City the week before.
