Northampton have confirmed defender Aaron Pierre has left the club to join Shrewsbury Town.
The 26-year-old defender has signed a three year contract with the League One Shrews, and moves to Shropshire for an undisclosed fee.
Pierre joined Northampton in 2017 as a free agent after leaving Wycombe Wanderers. After a difficult first season, the player was a regular last season, playing 45 times in all competitions, notching 8 goals along the way. One of them came in his final appearance for the club, as Northampton beat Oldham on the final day of last season.
The defender had entered the final year of his contract with the Cobblers, but will now leave the club.
Manager Keith Curle told the official Northampton Town website that the club would now seek to source an appropriate replacement.
He said, “When the interest came in and we began discussions with Aaron and his agent, he indicated a desire to play in a higher division, and once an appropriate fee was finally agreed we all felt the timing was right.
“Aaron did well for us last season, I enjoyed working with him and we wish him well, but we do have a number of targets in mind to replace him and everyone is working behind the scenes to make that happen.”
