MK Dons picked up their first victory of pre-season with a 5-1 success away at Brackley Town.
Jordan Houghton, Callum Brittain, Kieran Agard, Dylan Asonganyi and Sam Nombe struck the goals for Paul Tisdale’s League One side, as they saw off the National League North outfit.
In front of a crowd of just over 1,000 people, the Dons continued their pre-season prep with victory and more minutes for their squad ahead of the first match of the season on August 3rd.
The game was the second pre-season friendly for the Dons, who began their pre-season with a 2-2 draw behind closed doors against Oxford City at Bisham Abbey on Friday afternoon.
Houghton opened the scoring in the early stages after receiving a pass from new signing Hiram Boateng before striking a slick finish into the bottom corner.
Brittain then made it 2-0 a few minutes later, as he headed in a well-weighted Boateng cross.
Brackley did pull a goal back, as goalkeeper Stuart Moore made a fine save to deny Matt Lowe, but from the consequent corner, Gareth Dean beat Moore to make it 2-1.
But the Dons restored their two goal cushion moments later, as Agard received Jordan Bowery’s pass and squeezed an effort past the Brackley keeper.
It could even have been four late in the first half, as a Dons free-kick saw Bowery’s initial header strike the bar and a second attempt cleared just off the line.
The second half lacked momentum after that, with both sides making extensive alterations during this period.
Brackley’s best chance saw a cross from one-time MK Dons winger Carl Baker headed wide by Luke Fairlamb.
But two late goals wrapped things up for the Dons, as first Asonganyi beat his marker to finish, before Nombe headed in a corner.
