Luton Town are into the Third Round of the Carabao Cup as the Hatters won 3-0 away at Cardiff City.

Less than a month after losing to Cardiff in the Championship, Graeme Jones’ side won their tie in South Wales. The visitors opened the scoring through a Junior Hoilett own goal late in the first half, before Alan Sheehan and Jake Jervis struck after the break to make sure.

A reshuffled Luton side featuring 10 changes from the weekend win at Barnsley created less chances over the course of the 90 minutes.

But ultimately, the side proved to be more clinical as they reached the next stage of the Carabao Cup.

Cardiff had first half chances, with Omar Bogle and Isaac Vassell coming close for Neil Warnock’s side.

Luton struck first in the final minutes of the first half, as James Bree’s cross was inadvertently deflected past his own keeper by Hoilett.

The second came shortly after the hour mark when Sheehan curled a free-kick into the back of the Cardiff net.

Not long after that, Jervis made it 3-0 to Luton, as he received Luke Berry’s through pass and then converted the through-ball into the back of the net.
