Northampton Town have signed one player and confirmed one departure on deadline day for League One and Two clubs.

The Cobblers have signed former AFC Wimbledon winger Egli Kaja on a short-term deal until January.

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed the departure of full-back Joe Bunney, who left the club by mutual consent before agreeing a one season deal with Bolton Wanderers.

22-year-old Kaja has been confirmed by the club as training with them in recent weeks, having left AFC Wimbledon. The winger spent time on loan last season with Scottish side Livingston.

Manager Keith Curle praised his new signing. He told the official Northampton Town website, “He has made a good impression and has settled in well. He is quick, direct, he causes problems for defenders and he can play on either wing.

“We feel he can add to the attacking options we have in the squad and we are pleased to have him on board.”

Meanwhile, Bunney has left Northampton after having his contract cancelled by mutual consent. The full-back joined Northampton from Rochdale in January 2018, and spent time on loan with Blackpool and Rochdale.

He is one of several new signings made at Bolton today (02/09) after the club’s recent takeover.
