MK Dons are out of the Trophy after a 3-0 defeat by Newport County.

All 3 of the Welsh side’s goals came in the first half. Strikes by Tristan Abrahams and Padraig Amond decided the contest, as the League 2 Exiles progressed.

The result ends the Dons’ cup involvements for the season, following a Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool in late September and an FA Cup exit at the hands of Port Vale.

An MK Dons side that made 7 changes fell behind within the opening four minutes. Abrahams got the final touch, as he turned the ball over the line after goalkeeper Stuart Moore tapped a corner onto his own crossbar.

MK struggled to get back into the contest after that, and were 2-0 down when Amond slammed a free-kick into the back of the net with just under half an hour played.

Amond was involved in the third goal, as his header from a corner was eventually bundled over the line.

MK Dons had seen a couple of half-chances in-between the first two Newport goals, but with the team 3 goals down at the break, they faced a tall order. Things then nearly got worse, as Moore saved a shot to deny Amond a hat-trick.

The visitors made changes and had a few late half-chances to get something back, but MK Dons were unable to get anything back as their Trophy campaign came to an end.
