Police officers in Northamptonshire have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to after hand sanitiser was stolen from a local hospital earlier this month.

The theft of the sanitiser unit from Northampton General Hospital happened on Monday March 9th at about 7.45pm.

During the incident, a man pulled the sanitiser unit off from a wall inside the building, damaging the wall as a result of his actions. He then left the hospital with the sanitiser.

Officers investigating the incident believe the man in the CCTV image that has been released to the media may have information that could help their enquiries.

As a result, they are encouraging him or anyone who recognises him to call Northamptonshire Police on the 101 hotline. The Incident number to quote is 20000138273

The news comes as a number of hand sanitiser thefts have been reported from UK hospitals in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, which has escalated over the course of March. Hospitals in Scotland, Norfolk, Northern Ireland and other regions have all reported thefts. Northampton General Hospital previously put out a comment expressing concern at the start of the month, after a number of foam sanitiser bottles had been stolen from the site.
