Northampton Town have confirmed the signing of Oldham midfielder Christopher Missilou.

The 28-year-old midfielder has signed a one year deal, with an option for an extra year.

Missilou is the first arrival at the PTS Academy Stadium ahead of the 2020-21 season, with the move to be made official from August 1st.

His new manager Keith Curle told the official Northampton Town website that he was delighted to confirm the signing.

He said, “Christopher is also a good age. We want players with the ambition, hunger and desire to progress and he is very much in that bracket while also having a good amount of experience. He has played a lot of games over the last two years.

“He has always impressed us when we have watched him and we are delighted to welcome him to Northampton Town.

“He is primarily a defensive midfield player who enjoys the competitive side of the game. He generally plays behind the ball, but he has a forward thinking mentality, supporting play and he can read the game well. He senses danger and helps break things up.

“He can also step through the lines and he has a good range of passing ability.”

Having largely played in France, Missilou moved to England in 2018 to join Oldham after a successful trial with the Lancashire club. He made 77 appearances in his 2 seasons for the Latics, and has previously been capped by the full Republic of Congo national team.
