MK Dons have confirmed that defender Joe Walsh will leave the club after the Welsh centre-back chose not to extend his contract.
Walsh was out of contract at the end of the 2019-20 season at MK Dons, and had been offered a new deal, but will instead move to pastures new after 5 years playing for the club.
The news was confirmed by the MK Dons manager Russell Martin, who covered the situation in a press conference earlier today.
Martin said, “I had a chat with him and his agent and they are still exploring other options, but our timeline has gone on that one. He’s been a top servant for this Football Club and he’s a top lad but he’s decided to move on and we have to respect that.”
Walsh joined MK Dons from Crawley Town on loan in 2015, and would make the deal permanent at the end of the season. He made a total of 145 appearances in all competitions, including 29 in the truncated 2019-20 campaign, having made 33 the season before as the Dons won promotion from League 2.
Martin also confirmed talks remain ongoing with defender Callum Brittain and striker Joe Mason, who have received offers to extend their stays with MK Dons but have yet to provide a definitive yes or no answer.
