Luton Town will face an away tie against Reading in the second round of the Carabao Cup, with the winners to face Manchester United.

The draw for Round Two of the tournament also saw ties planned for the third round of the competition, which will see European competing sides introduced for the first time.

The second round tie will take place in the week beginning September 14th, with the third round ties slotting in one week later and which will see the end of the tournament’s geographic splits after the first rounds are played on a North/South basis.

Luton’s tie will see them take on their fellow Championship side, who they are due to face at the Madejski Stadium on Boxing Day.

Reading booked their place in Round 2 by coming from behind to defeat Colchester United 3-1 at home, in their first game under new manager Veljko Paunović, although he was not at the game against League Two Colchester due to self-isolation rules.

If they can defeat their fellow Championship side, a home tie against Manchester United is the reward.
