Northampton sign striker Benny Ashley-Seal from Wolves
Northampton Town have confirmed the signing of striker Benny Ashley-Seal from Premier League Wolves.
The 21-year-old has signed a two year contract with the League One side after moving for an undisclosed fee.
The striker was on the academy books of Arsenal, Spurs and Norwich before moving to Wolves in 2017. He made a handful of appearances for the senior Wolves team, including in an FA Cup tie against Manchester United in January, while he also had loan spells with Portuguese side Famalicão and the Cobblers’ League One rivals Accrington Stanley.
Northampton manager Keith Curle told the club’s official website that he is a target the club have scouted extensively and they believe he will fit in with the team’s intended system.
He said, “We have watched him a few times and seen him in training and there is no doubt that he is a young man who can score goals. He is only just starting the journey we believe he can go on, but he has had an excellent upbringing in a very good environment and now he is making a step to create his own profile.
“He looks after the ball well, he has good power, good strength and good technique with a real hunger and a desire to do well.
“We will play in a way that suits his ability and his skill set. His loan spell at Accrington last season shows he can do well in League 1 and this is the next step in his progression.”
