Luton confirm Joe Morrell signing and loan move for Peter Kioso
Luton Town have confirmed two transfers ahead of tomorrow’s deadline, with winger Joe Morrell signing from Bristol City and defender Peter Kioso leaving for Bolton on loan.
Morrell has moved from Bristol to Bedfordshire for an undisclosed fee, with the 23-year-old Welsh international signing a contract of unspecified length with his new club.
The winger has spent 11 years on the books at Bristol City, and made his first appearance in their colours as a 16-year-old.
He spent last season on loan with Lincoln City in League One, where he was awarded the Imps’ Player of the Season award for the curtailed 2019-20 third tier season.
Morrell has also been capped 9 times by the Welsh national team, which included 45 minutes from the start in their defeat by England last week.
He told the club’s official website, “I’m really excited. Obviously it was a difficult decision for me to leave the club I have been at for 11 years and where I came through the academy. It was always going to take a fantastic opportunity for myself to leave Bristol City and I feel that is what I’ve got here with Luton. I’m really excited to be here and get started.”
Meanwhile, 21-year-old defender Kioso has agreed a deal to join League 2 side Bolton Wanderers for the season.
The defender joined the club from Hartlepool in January, and he made 3 appearances for the club, including a start against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last month.
Bolton Head Coach Ian Evatt said, “I am delighted to confirm we have signed Peter Kioso from Luton who is a player I have admired for a long time and have chased since the start of pre-season.
“Peter can play a variety of positions, has great pace and power and adds quality to our squad.”
