Luton Town suffered a 2-0 defeat to Stoke City, as Nathan Jones was defeated by his former employers at Kenilworth Road.
Steven Fletcher put Stoke in front straight after the half time whistle, before Nick Powell rubber-stamped a victory for the away side.
The result is a second defeat in three Championship outings for the side from Bedfordshire, although they do sit 6th after the opening five games of the new season.
Jones’ side would enjoy more possession and chances over the 90 minutes, with Glen Rea firing over inside the opening minute.
Elliot Lee saw a strike fly into the side-netting, before Danny Hylton saw one effort blocked and another saved.
Rhys Norrington-Davies would then see a lash at goal deflected narrowly over the bar, but the home side’s failure to put something past Adam Davies would cost them straight after the break.
Stoke took the lead straight after the break, as new signing Fletcher headed in Tyrese Campbell’s cross.
The away side would be 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the restart, when Powell fired the ball past Simon Sluga after Luton failed to clear a corner.
Davies then denied Harry Cornick after he was found by a cross from debutant substitute Joe Morrell, before Sluga denied Sam Clucas swiping a third for Stoke.
Luton would have a few more chances in the latter stages for at least a goal back, but Stoke were able to see the result out as the Hatters fall to a first home defeat in the league this season.
The Hatters will seek to recover over a quickfire period of fixtures, starting with back-to-back away games at Millwall and at Sheffield Wednesday.
