Luton Town will play Reading at Kenilworth Road in the second round of the FA Cup.

The tie in Bedfordshire will take place over the weekend of January 8-11, with the two Championship teams’ precise date to be decided in due course.

This will be the second time the Hatters and Royals will have faced one another in a knockout cup in 2020-21, after they met in Berkshire in the Carabao Cup back in September, with Luton winning 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium on that occasion.

The two sides are yet to meet for a previously scheduled league fixture this season, with the first game scheduled to take place in Reading on Boxing Day before a return fixture at Kenilworth Road in late April.

Luton were knocked out in the Third Round of last season’s FA Cup after a defeat by then-Premier League side Bournemouth. They have reached the Third Round in each of the last 4 seasons, but are aiming to progress beyond that stage for the first time since 2012-13.
