Northampton Town have confirmed that midfielder Chris Lines and defender Luka Racic have left the club.

Lines has joined League 2 side Stevenage, while Racic has ended his loan at Brentford early.

35-year-old Lines has made a permanent move to the League 2 side, with the midfielder being one of 3 players confirmed to join a side managed by ex-Cobblers striker Alex Revell.

Cobblers manager Keith Curle said the move has been made after he just made 4 appearances for the club so far this season. He said, “Chris hasn’t played as much as he would have liked this season.

“This move gives him the chance to play regular first team football, that can only be good for him, and we of course wish Chris well. With the EFL rules limiting squad sizes to 22, Chris moving on also frees up a space in our squad so I think this move makes sense for all parties.

“We thank Chris for his time at the club and for the role he played in our promotion last season and we wish him every success for the future.”

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Danish defender Racic has returned to his parent club Brentford after his loan spell was terminated early.

Racic had signed a season long loan with Northampton but after his selection availability was affected by a back injury, the two clubs have agreed for the defender to return to the Championship club. He made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Cobblers.
