MK Dons have confirmed that striker Stephen Walker will return to Middlesbrough after his loan was terminated early.

Less than 24 hours after Walker scored a brace as MK Dons beat Northampton in the EFL Trophy, the League One side have confirmed a mutual agreement with Walker’s parent club was made for the striker to return to the Championship club.

Walker leaves after making 17 appearances in the season, scoring 5 goals in all competitions.

MK Dons manager Russell Martin told the official MK Dons website that all parties agreed the move was the decision reached as best for the player.

He said, “Ste has worked really hard during his time with us but unfortunately he’s just not been able to get the minutes he would have liked. For his own development, all parties agreed it was best that he went back to Middlesbrough.

“He has helped us, for sure, in the first half of this season and he goes with our thanks and best wishes.”
