Northampton Town have confirmed the double signing of attacking players Mickel Miller and Ryan Edmonson.

Miller, 25, has signed on loan until the rest of the season from Championship side Rotherham United, and was the first confirmed arrival, making him Northampton’s first signing of 2021.

He was then joined by 19-year-old Edmondson, who has signed on a season long loan from Leeds United.

Miller, who can play either out wide or through the middle, previously spent time at Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy, and made a first team debut for Carshalton Athletic before spending 2 1/2 years in Scotland with Hamilton Academical.

He joined Rotherham in 2020, making 9 appearances this season before confirming his loan move to join Keith Curle’s side.

Curle told the official Northampton Town website that Miller was a long-term target, and that he was delighted to get the deal done.

He said, “Mickel is a player we have been tracking for some time and we are delighted to be able to bring him to the club.

“He has attributes that we think can improve us. He is a tricky player with a lot of pace who can play either wide or centrally. He is a goal threat himself and he is also a player who can create opportunities for others.

“He also works really hard when his team does not have the ball and that is something we demand of every player who represents Northampton Town.”

Meanwhile, Edmondson arrives on loan from Leeds. The striker was part of a Leeds U23s team that won the Premier League Professional Development League title in 2019, and spent the first of this season on loan with Scottish side Aberdeen, for whom he scored 2 in 14.

Talking about Edmondson, Curle voiced his delight to bring him to the club.

He said, “He is a mobile, hard working, aggressive centre forward. He has a hunger and a desire to score goals and he is capable of scoring different types of goals. Beyond that, he is someone who can link play well, he also has an excellent work ethic and is someone willing to go the extra mile for the team.

“He is a player we spotted a while ago and have tracked for some time, we tried to sign him in the last transfer window and I am delighted we have been able to secure his signature now.

“It is also pleasing that Leeds United have seen how we help to develop young players and are happy to allow Ryan to join us at this stage of his career.”
