Northampton v Oxford postponed due to waterlogged pitch
Northampton Town have confirmed their League One match against Oxford United has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Cobblers were due to host Karl Robinson’s side at the PTS Academy Stadium today (16/01), but heavy rain in the last few days lead to concerns over the pitch.
A pitch inspection was held this morning, and the match’s planned referee Thomas Bramall determined the pitch was not usable to play the game today.
He said, “In the interests of player safety, the correct decision was to call the game off.
“There has been a lot of rain here over the last few days, the pitch is very wet and as always, the safety of the players is of paramount importance.”
A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course, while Northampton Town confirmed that anyone who had already bought a Match Pass to watch the match on iFollow will still have the pass as valid for the rearranged game on its future date.
