Northampton’s match against Blackpool has been postponed after a waterlogged pitch at Bloomfield Road.

A pitch inspection was called at 5:30pm by match referee James Oldham after heavy rain fell in Lancashire, and the referee duly made the decision to call the game off.

This is Northampton’s second match in a row to be called off due to waterlogged pitch, after Saturday’s game against Oxford at the PTS Academy Stadium also fell victim to the weather.

Confirming the postponement of the action, Oldham said, “I have been here for about 45 minutes or so now and the pitch is not improving and neither is the weather forecast. From just rolling the ball in the key action areas, it isn’t bouncing or travelling very well, particularly in both goalmouths. That’s behind the decision to postpone the game.”

A rescheduled date will be announced in due course, with Northampton Town confirming that any iFollow match passes fans had purchased for the game will automatically be valid for the re-arranged game.
