Northampton Town are out of the League 1 relegation zone after a 0-0 draw at Fleetwood.

With AFC Wimbledon losing at Doncaster, a draw at Highbury means Northampton are now outside of the dropzone by 1 point. However, Keith Curle’s side are still yet to win a game in 2021.

A Northampton side featuring debutant Peter Kioso could’ve scored within one minute of kick-off, as Sam Hoskins fired over from range.

Harvey Saunders and Callum Camps then forced saves out of Jonathan Mitchell, before Alex Cairns in the Fleetwood goal won out in a one-on-one with Ryan Edmondson.

Danny Rose headed a Kioso cross wide just after half-time, before Paddy Madden lashed over for the hosts.

Ryan Watson came off the bench and had two decent chances to grab a late winner for the Cobblers, with one strike flying just wide and another deflected wide, while ex-Fleetwood man Cian Bolger hit one wide at a corner.

But there was ultimately to be no winner in the contest, as the game ultimately ended with no goal.
