MK Dons take point at Ipswich after neither side lands breakthrough
MK Dons drew 0-0 at Ipswich Town as neither side made a breakthrough.
The Dons looked likelier winners at Portman Road, with Ipswich failing to register a shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.
However, they were unable to find a way past Tomas Holy, and ended up sharing points with Ipswich again, having drawn the reverse fixture earlier this season.
The draw means MK Dons sit 14th with six games to play. The Dons are 8 points behind 6th place, and 17 points clear of the relegation zone.
MK Dons were forced to shuffle their pack, with Cameron Jerome, Louis Thompson and Warren O’Hora all missing out with injuries. Ipswich nearly made their adjustment difficult, after Armando Dobra saw a speculative volley from an intercepted clearance waft wide.
Zak Jules would see an effort blocked by Holy, before Matt O’Riley saw a free-kick blocked.
The best chances that fell the Dons way in the first half came late in the opening 45. Scott Fraser hit the side netting after Will Grigg’s initial attempt was blocked, before the referee waved away a penalty appeal after a strike hit the hand of home defender Luke Chambers.
Perhaps Ipswich’s best chance of the half came in first half injury time, as Dobra turned Gwion Edwards’ cross wide.
MK Dons would come close straight after half-time, when a free-kick by Andrew Surman was turned away by Ipswich keeper Holy.
Holy would then make a save to keep out Matt O’Riley, and would later then make a double save to again thwart the Dons’ former Fulham midfielder.
Home substitute Freddie Sears would come close twice, but cleared the bar with both attempts.
MK Dons would then see a few efforts blocked in the closing stages, but it would ultimately be a game where no breakthrough would be forthcoming as the game ended all square.
